Erectile dysfunction medications seized in Glengormley
8 April 2011
Large amounts of unlicensed medicines have been seized by Department of Health officials throughout a search of a home in Glengormley.
A man was interviewed by department officers about unlawfully importing and consequently supplying unlicensed through the web.
The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offences.
He will now be the topic of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.
The search was carried out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.
Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, stated: "It is important that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be unsafe.
"These kinds of products being sold, typically online, have actually undergone no quality control and there can be no warranty about their security.
"You just do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More notably, you do not know the result drugs like this might have on your health."
